Grandad’s Apples is a popular stop with locals for fresh apple cider donuts and cold cider slush.

Grandad’s Apples is on 64 on the west side of Hendersonville, past the turn for Walmart.
The road is called Chimney Rock Road there.

Fresh apples are picked every day. You can sample the different varieties and buy a bag. They grow more than 20 different varieties of apples.

They also had peaches this time.

Gala, Honeycrisp, Ruben, Tsugaru, Jonagold, Golden Delicious, Red Delicious, Fuji and Shuzuka were ripe when we visited.

You can buy pre-packed bags of apples. Or mix and match! Make your own assortment of any of the apples in season.

There are lots of apple related things to buy at the Country Store. They sell apple peelers, apple bakers, apple crisp mix… anything apple, they have it.

They have a playground.

The silo provides a shady spot to keep an eye on the kids in the playground.

The silo provides shade for the rocking chairs, where you can keep an eye on the kids in the playground. The silo is set where it catches some breeze.

The area with farm animals has a double fence, so you can’t actually touch the animals.

When we were there we saw two goats and a donkey.

You can feed the animals, but don’t give them apples. I’m sure that otherwise they would get WAY too many apples.

The goat was keeping an eye on this ramp to see if we gave them anything.

The miniature donkey was eating grass as close to the shade as he could get.

There was a sign for the Cow Train. It is only on the weekends and we were there on Wednesday morning, so I have no idea what a cow train is.

There were no signs for or against dogs, but there was a dog wandering around on a leash and nobody said anything.

Grandad’s Apples opens in early August, when the first apples ripen. They close at the end of November.
They are open every day from 8 in the morning until 6.
